Total Media is one the UK’s leading media agencies, and has been based in its Kensington offices since its inception over 30 years ago. The firm asked us to refresh the business’s branding as The Behavioural Planning Agency, committed to planning media ‘for people, not profiles’. Working around a fully operational business over two weeks and three weekends, we adapted the existing space to reflect this new and dynamic identity.
In the waiting area, we matched new furniture, including a refurbished bronze and back-painted glass reception counter, with herringbone flooring, feature lighting and punchy artwork. The vibrant touches of colour were taken from the palette specified in the new Total Media brand guidelines.
The herringbone and textured carpet tiles continued through the refurbished washrooms into the shared Tea Point and Breakout area. We completely redesigned the kitchen layout to make full use of the space. New booth seating from Orangebox, stools by Arper and a shared table from Boss Design all combined to create a stylish shared space for working and taking a break.
Total Media’s meeting rooms are always in use, so installing new flooring, glass doors, Orangebox tables and Senator seating was a challenge, but careful coordination saw us achieve this within the programme time. Internal meetings had previously been held in a meeting room known, not wholly affectionately as ‘The Hot House’ on account of its lack of light and air-conditioning. We stripped out the room and replaced all the furniture and finishes, creating a new, high-impact space that forms a focal point across the open plan area.
Working in an occupied space can present many different challenges. The Total Media team were hugely accommodating to the demands of the refurbishment, and were great to work with – a successful partnership in all respects!
